Neighbors helping neighbors.
No money involved.

Wello is a reciprocity network for the Bay Area. Help someone move, earn credits. Spend them when you need a ride, a dog walk, or a hand with anything.

Getting started

Simple from day one

You don't need anything except a few hours and a willingness to help. Wello takes care of the rest.

1

Join and introduce yourself

Sign up with your name and neighborhood. Tell the community a little about who you are and what you're good at — cooking, fixing bikes, speaking Spanish, driving, whatever. You'll receive 3 welcome credits to get started.

2

Post what you can offer — or what you need

Browse requests from neighbors nearby, or post your own. Quick tasks under 30 minutes are 1 credit. Bigger asks that take up to an hour — tutoring, helping someone move, a deeper clean — are 2 credits. Simple on purpose.

3

Connect and make it happen

Message directly through Wello, agree on the details, and show up for each other. No payment, no awkward Venmo requests. Just neighbors doing what neighbors do.

4

Confirm the exchange, earn your credits

After the task, both of you confirm it went well. Credits transfer automatically within 12 hours. If something changed — the job took longer, the situation was trickier than expected — either of you can propose adjusting the credit amount, and you both agree together.

The credit system

One credit. Fair by default.

Wello credits aren't money and they aren't hours. They're a shared agreement that help is worth something — and that everyone's effort matters equally.

🐕

Dog walk

One walk, one neighborhood loop, one happy dog. Usually 20–30 minutes.

1 credit
🚗

Short ride

A trip across town, under 30 minutes or so.

📚

Tutoring session

One focused session of help with math, writing, language, or anything else.

2 credits
📦

Help moving

A few boxes, a couch, a car full of stuff.

1–2 credits
🌱

Gardening

Quick weeding or planting is 1 credit. A longer yard session is 2.

1–2 credits

Cleaning

Light tidying is 1 credit. A deeper clean taking closer to an hour is 2.

1–2 credits

Tasks under 30 minutes are 1 credit. Tasks that take up to an hour — tutoring, large furniture assembly, bigger cleaning jobs — are 2 credits. If you're unsure, Wello shows a suggested amount when you post.

After the task

How the confirmation window works

Real help doesn't always go exactly as planned. Once the task is marked done, a 12-hour window opens for both of you to confirm — or adjust — before credits transfer.

Task complete

Someone marks it done

For tasks with a set time, either party can mark it complete. For flexible tasks with no scheduled time, the helper marks it done once they've finished — that's what starts the clock.

Within 12 hours

Both confirm — or suggest an adjustment

If everything went smoothly, both confirm and credits transfer immediately. If the task grew — took longer, was more involved, required extra effort — either party can propose a new credit amount. The other person reviews and accepts.

If there's a disagreement

A community moderator steps in

If one person proposes more credits and the other doesn't agree, a Wello community moderator reviews the situation and makes a fair call. This is rare — most exchanges are straightforward — but it's there when you need it.

After 12 hours

Credits transfer automatically

If neither party takes action, the original credit amount transfers automatically. No awkward follow-ups, no chasing anyone down.

Leave a note

Write something in the guest book

After every exchange, both parties can leave a short note for each other — a thank-you, a memory, a small detail about what the experience was like. Not a star rating. Not a performance review. Just a human moment, captured.

Trust & safety

A community that looks out for each other

Wello is built on trust. Here's how we work to keep everyone safe.

Phone-verified members

Every Wello member verifies their phone number at signup. For sensitive exchanges — rides, childcare, elder care — we encourage additional steps.

👥

Community moderators

Real people, not algorithms. Wello moderators are trusted community members who help resolve disputes and handle safety reports.

Report anything, fast

If something feels wrong — during or after an exchange — you can report it directly in the app. Urgent safety concerns are escalated immediately.

🔒

Block and remove

You can block any member at any time. Serious violations result in immediate removal from the community, no questions asked.

📋

Clear community guidelines

Every member agrees to Wello's community standards at signup. The rules are simple: be kind, be honest, and show up.

🤝

Your responsibility, your judgment

Wello connects neighbors — it doesn't manage them. Use your instincts. Get to know someone before bigger exchanges. Trust is built one favor at a time.

What Wello believes

Not a gig economy. A reciprocity network.

Wello exists because we believe in connection over transaction.

Everyone's effort matters equally

Credits reflect genuine effort. We can all support each other in some way.

Neighbors, not strangers

This is your community. Whether you're new to the area or a lifelong resident, you belong here.

Generosity is the norm

Help a neighbor because you want to. The credits are just a way of keeping it balanced.

No cash, no pressure

Credits can't be sold, cashed out, or transferred outside Wello. This isn't a side hustle platform.
